Client
McIvor Forest
Location
Bendigo, VIC
The development is adjacent to the Greater Bendigo National Park. Its stunning forest extends into the community through a network of reserves and wetlands.
Spiire was engaged as the multi-disciplinary project lead from the outset and provided Civil Engineering, Survey, Town Planning and Water Engineering services.
Started in 2004, the development was conceived during a period of extremely low rainfall. These dry conditions hindered how we established the wetland, street landscape and southern reserve.
Effectively using our knowledge and expertise of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), Spiire’s integrated Water Engineering and Landscape Architecture teams were able to overcome these issues.
The McIvor Forest project is the first and best example of constructed WSUD wetland in the area. It perfectly demonstrates the way land can be developed north of the Great Dividing Range.
As a result of the project, the client and the local community now have a thriving area of settlement close to the forest and schools. Wetlands, connected open spaces and high quality parklands have been cleverly created throughout the area.
The strength of character and quality design of the development led to a successful marketing campaign of McIvor Forest by the client. Strong sales have since followed.
The project showcases the team’s integrated approach to design and development, delivering a quality community for the greater Bendigo area.
