View Full WidthAfter playing an instrumental role in the establishment of our Adelaide office, Business Manager Harrison Spurling jumped at the opportunity to relocate in 2023 and lead the growing local team.
Having begun his journey with Spiire as a mature-aged graduate in 2014, Harrison is proud to have forged a rewarding career as a civil engineer in the land development sector over the last ten years.
“We have a real responsibility to provide trusted advice to our clients, which can influence each phase of developing new communities, from concept through to delivery,” he says.
“It’s so rewarding to help find creative solutions that lead to positive outcomes, both for clients and for the people who will live or work in these estates and benefit from the infrastructure.”
Harrison is no stranger to pursuing career goals and seizing arising opportunities within the business. Under the mentorship of senior engineers, within his first five years at Spiire, he progressed to Associate level and became a Line Manager to several peers in the civil design team.
Now with extensive experience under his belt, including seven years in our Melbourne office and two years in Geelong, Harrison brings his solid foundation of technical skills to his delivery of local projects, such as the expansion of Virginia Grove and Springwood Estate in Adelaide’s northern growth corridor.
Collaborating with our local team of experienced land development specialists and multidisciplinary teams across the business, Harrison appreciates bringing different perspectives together to achieve stronger outcomes. The ability to share resources across geographies and services has created an exceptional knowledge base for local projects.
“It is incredibly unique and advantageous to be part of an integrated team – all of our disciplines under the one roof. You have the opportunity to learn from other disciplines within our industry and have the benefit of cross-discipline knowledge and understanding,” he says.
Harrison is eager to foster a strong learning culture in the Adelaide office, in keeping with Spiire’s commitment to developing each other. His natural affinity for coaching, matched by his own hunger for learning, are central to his approach to leadership.
“I get great satisfaction in seeing others learn and grow in their abilities. I love to see people learn and succeed at something new,” he says.
“I believe this mentality creates trust among the team, to ask questions and reinforce your own learning through sharing knowledge. We can all benefit from each other’s experience.”
